Maple Grove Girls Lacrosse Holds Off Wayzata to Advance to Section Final
The Maple Grove girls lacrosse team built a 6-1 lead but had to hold off a Wayzata rally to win 8-7 in the Section 5 semifinals.
Maple Grove dominated early, and when Leah Muscatello scored to make it 6-1 it seemed the Crimson had control of the game.
Wayzata pulled to within 6-3 at halftime, with all of the goals coming from Katie Sikorski.
After the teams traded goals early in the second half, Wayzata surged.
They scored three straight goals to pull within 8-7 with six minutes left.
They couldn’t get the equalizer though as Maple Grove held on to stay undefeated.
Maple Grove hosts Benilde-St. Margaret’s in the section final Wednesday in a game you can watch live on CCX.
