Maple Grove Boys Lacrosse Falls to Benilde in Section 5 Final
The Maple Grove boys lacrosse team built a 3-2 halftime lead before Benilde-St. Margaret’s rallied for a 9-3 win in the Section 5 final.
The Crimson scored the only goal of the first quarter.
After the Red Knights scored a pair of goals to go up 2-1 in the second quarter, Maple Grove netted the last two of the opening half to lead 3-2.
BSM scored the only two goals of the third quarter to take a 4-3 lead after three.
They piled up the goals late to pull away.
Hunter Payer had three goals for the Red Knights, who remained undefeated this season.
They are the defending state champions.
The loss was just the second this season for the Crimson.
