Champlin Park Volleyball Rallies to Beat Maple Grove in Thrilling 5AAAA Final
The Champlin Park volleyball team came back from down two sets to defeat Maple Grove in five sets in the Section 5AAAA final, sending the Rebels to next week’s state tournament.
The unranked Crimson (21-11) played well from the start, jumping out a big lead in the first set and winning 25-17. The Crimson then won the second set 25-20.
Champlin Park (28-3), ranked second in the state in Class AAAA, won the third and fourth sets by identical 25-20 scores.
The teams battled back and forth in the fifth set before the Rebels scored the final three points of the night, sending them to the state tournament for the seventh time in school history and the first since 2018.
Maple Grove was seeking their first state tournament berth.

Seeding for the state tournament takes place over the weekend with the quarterfinal round matches in Class AAAA scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
