Champlin Park Softball Riding Momentum into State Tournament

After an up and down regular season, the Champlin Park softball team is now riding a wave of momentum heading into the state tournament.

The Rebels were the fifth seed for the Section 5AAAA tournament, but went through the bracket without a loss.

That included beating Centennial 7-1 in the section final round, with the Rebels putting together a seven-run sixth inning after trailing for much of the game.

Champlin Park reached the state tournament for the first time in 2025 and captured the Class AAAA championship.

It’s a much younger group this time, with a lot of new faces in the lineup. The Rebels have taken some lumps along the way and carry a 15-8 record into state, but they’re playing well enough to give anyone trouble.

They’re a strong hitting team. The defensive side of things came together well at playoff time, with the Rebels allowing a total of five runs in four section games.

The state tournament begins Tuesday at Caswell Park in North Mankato.

Champlin Park is seeded seventh for the AAAA tournament and faces number two seed Farmington in the quarterfinals at 10:00 a.m.
