Champlin Park Football Beats STMA in Season Opener
The Champlin Park football team won its season opener Thursday, beating St. Michael-Albertville 21-12.
The Rebels fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter on a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown by the Knights Kyan Beamont.
Champlin Park responded with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Miles Felton to Isaac Axness and later a 15-yard TD run by Felton.
The Knights closed to within 14-12 before halftime but never scored again while Preston Nelson helped seal the win for Champlin Park with a late 74-yard touchdown run for a 21-12 win.
Champlin Park plays at Andover next Friday.
