Champlin Park Baseball Rallies Past Armstrong
After trailing for most of the game, the Champlin Park baseball team rallied for a 7-6 win over host Armstrong Tuesday.
Armstrong scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added two more in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead.
Champlin Park scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings but still trailed 6-2 entering the seventh.
Andrew Rakow hit a solo homerun leading off the top of the seventh to start the rally for the Rebels.
They were down 6-5 and down to their final out when Justin Brooks delivered a line single to left to score the tying run.
When the Falcons threw wildly to second on the play, Joe Tharaldson raced in with the go-ahead run.
Relief pitcher Drew Kaluza set the Falcons down in order in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.
Champlin Park improved to 2-1 with the win, while Armstrong dropped to 1-2.
