Champlin Park Baseball Falls to Mounds View in Section 5AAAA Tournament
Top seed Champlin Park lost 2-1 to second seed Mounds View in the winner’s bracket final of the Section 5AAAA baseball tournament.
All of the scoring came on solo homeruns in a good pitcher’s duel between Andrew Rakow of Champlin Park and Drew Rogers of Mounds View.
Rogers homered off Rakow in the top of the first for a quick 1-0 Mustangs lead.
It stayed that way until the sixth inning when Tanner Hoemann homered for a 2-0 lead.
Rakow answered with a homer of his own in the bottom of the sixth to pull the Rebels within 2-1, but that was it for the scoring.
Mounds View moves into the championship round, while Champlin Park is back in action Monday in the loser’s bracket final.
