Benilde-St. Margaret’s Girls Basketball Wins State AAA Championship
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls’ basketball team won the program’s first state title since 2010 as the Red Knights edged Stewartville 66-60 in the Class AAA championship game.
Sierre Lumpkin led the Red Knights in scoring with 21 points, including five three-pointers.
Olivia Olson netted 17 points to go along with 17 rebounds while Zahara Bishop added 10 points.
B-SM played the final without the team’s second leading scorer, Kendall McGee, who was injured in the state semifinals.
The Red Knights ended the season with a 26-6 record. Stewartville, playing in its first state tournament, finished 29-3.
Olson and Kate Kapsner made the all-tournament team for the Red Knights.
