Zachary Lane 4th Graders Sing National Anthem at Timberwolves Game
A group of Plymouth fourth-graders got to show off their vocal range over the weekend in front of nearly 19,000 people.
Twenty-five students from Zachary Lane Elementary School had the honor of singing the national anthem before Saturday’s Timberwolves game against the Washington Wizards.
The school has a longstanding connection with the team and students audition for the opportunity every fall.
The kids began rehearsing at the start of the school year to get ready for their big moment.

“I think anytime kids are singing or playing an instrument or doing something like that, it’s very personal,” said Beth Schultz, a music teacher at Zachary Lane. “So to see them go up and to do their best and to try, it’s something where they just get to shine, and it’s a fun way for us to celebrate that.”
This won’t be the only time kids from Zachary Lane Elementary will be in the spotlight. A group of fifth-graders will sing the national anthem at a Twins game in May.
