Woman Killed in Brooklyn Park Crash After ‘Recklessly Driving Through Yards’
A driver has died following a crash in which Brooklyn Park police say a motorist was “driving recklessly through numerous yards” in a residential neighborhood.
The crash happened Sunday around 10 p.m. on the 7200 block of 73rd Avenue North. Police say the vehicle struck a tree, killing the female. According to Brooklyn Park police Deputy Chief Mark Bruley, a male passenger remains hospitalized.
“The preliminary investigation suggests that the driver was driving recklessly prior to the crash,” said Bruley.
When officers arrived, they began immediate medical measures and were later assisted by the Brooklyn Park Fire Department and North Memorial Health paramedics. The driver was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the driver.
Correction: an earlier report stated that the passenger had died, but Bruley stated that is not the case.
