Suspect Arrested in Brooklyn Park Wingstop Shooting
Police arrested a teenage suspect Wednesday who they say connected to a January shooting at a Brooklyn Park fast food restaurant.
The arrest followed an “extensive” investigation, police said.
One person was injured in the Jan. 20 shooting at Wingstop, located at 9678 Colorado Ln. N. The shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m.
According to police, detectives with the Brooklyn Park Police Department and investigators with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Violent Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant Wednesday at a residence in the 5800 block of 6th Street in Fridley.
Brooklyn Park police Inspector Matthew Rabe said a 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the shooting. Investigators also recovered evidence linking the suspect to the January incident, he said.
During the shooting, police determined the business had been struck by automatic gunfire 15 times. An adult patron inside the business sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper torso, police said.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been revealed.
The suspect has been booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case to decide on charges.
