Scooter’s Coffee Plans To Open in Brooklyn Center
A new coffee shop could be coming to Brooklyn Center.
Scooter’s Coffee, which is based in Nebraska, aims to open a new drive-through fast-casual coffee shop at 6245 Brooklyn Blvd.
That’s near the intersection with 63rd Avenue, across the street from the Brooklyn Center Fire Department’s West Fire Station.
The Brooklyn Center City Council recently voted 4-0 to prepare a purchase and development agreement for the property.
Scooter’s locations, which are typically open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., offer coffee and espresso-based drinks, teas, Red Bull infusions, breakfast sandwiches and other quick fares.
“I’m especially excited to hear that a coffee shop will stay open that late, because so many of them in Brooklyn Center close before that,” Mayor April Graves said. “I don’t know, I just like the idea of supporting a business other than Starbucks.”
Scooter’s locations don’t offer any indoor seating. However, the Brooklyn Center location is expected to have an outdoor seating area and patio.
Scooter’s is proposing to build its Brooklyn Center location on a city-owned plot that used to house a vehicle service center.
The city bought the vacant plot back in 2013.
Other nearby Scooter’s locations are in Brooklyn Park, Maplewood and Blaine.
