Robbinsdale Police Seek Suspects in Stolen Vehicle Pursuit
Robbinsdale police continued to search Thursday for three people who led officers on a chase Wednesday evening in a stolen vehicle.
Police said an officer spotted a stolen vehicle at around 5 p.m. Wednesday traveling southbound on County Road 81 near Abbott Avenue North.
As the Robbinsdale officer and other police agencies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled crashing into other cars.
“The stolen vehicle made intentional contact with civilian vehicles and rammed multiple police cars,” said Capt. John Elder with the Robbinsdale Police Department.
No one was injured during the crashes, police said.
Elder said police lost sight of the stolen vehicle due to traffic. Police later found it abandoned at 6th Street and Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis.
According to Robbinsdale police, three people were able to escape capture on foot. Police had attempted a search that included support from a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter and the use of a police K-9, Elder said.
Elder said police determined the stolen vehicle also had stolen plates.
Preliminary information indicated the stolen vehicle was used in violent crimes earlier this week, he said.
