Robbinsdale Police Arrest Man for Repeatedly Firing Gun
Robbinsdale police arrested a man who witnesses say fired a handgun into the air and into the ground by an apartment complex where he lived. The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. Wednesday by the Robinwood Apartments.
Multiple callers dialed 911 reporting a man firing shots. Police surrounded the area to search for the man. They eventually found him inside one of the apartments.
Robbinsdale police stress it’s illegal to shoot a handgun inside city limits.
“It’s dangerous, because we don’t know where those bullets are going to go,” said Robbinsdale Police Sgt. Chris Woodhall. “He shot them up in the air, they have to come down at some point.”
Man Firing Shots Did Not Have Permit
In addition to Robbinsdale police, Crystal, Brooklyn Center and Hennepin County law enforcement also responded. It’s unclear why the man fired the weapon. Police say the man did not show signs of drinking. The suspect, 51, did not have a permit to carry a firearm, police said.
Nobody was injured in the incident. The man is being held at the Hennepin County jail without bail. Charges are pending.
