Pursuit Involving Carjacked Vehicle Ends in Brooklyn Park
Two people are behind bars after a car chase involving Anoka County Sheriff’s Deputies that ended in Brooklyn Park.
Early Monday morning, Anoka County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued a vehicle into Brooklyn Park that was wanted in connection with a carjacking out of Minneapolis.
Police say the vehicle stopped in the area of Pearson Parkway and 83rd Avenue N. The driver subsequently ran away from the scene. Officers from Brooklyn Park (who were not involved with the vehicle pursuit) helped set up a perimeter while Anoka County Deputies deployed their K9 to search for the suspect.
During the search, Brooklyn Park Police noticed a suspicious vehicle driving in the area. When officers tried to make contact with the vehicle, the driver sped off.
Police later discovered the vehicle was stolen.
The Minnesota State Patrol, (which was on scene to help with the initial suspect), helped to track the vehicle using its helicopter.
That vehicle eventually crashed in Brooklyn Park. Following the crash, the driver ran off.
Sheriff’s deputies from Hennepin County and officers from Brooklyn Center located that suspect and placed him under arrest.
Meanwhile, the Anoka County K9 found the initial suspect hiding in a trash can near Pearson Parkway and 83rd Avenue N. Deputies then took him into custody.
