Man Killed on Sidewalk in Crystal Crash, Police Suspect Distracted Driving
Crystal police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian Thursday. Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering tells CCX News that the adult male victim was struck on the sidewalk.
The crash happened at about 12:08 p.m. in the 5300 block of 36th Avenue. According to police, one of the vehicles struck the pedestrian on the sidewalk. A person nearby saw the crash and attempted life-saving measures, police said. Emergency personnel joined the effort, but the man died of his injuries at the hospital.
Police closed eastbound 36th Avenue from Highway 100 to Regent Avenue for several hours following the incident. The city of Crystal alerted the public on social media urging drivers to avoid the area.

Police Cite Distracted Driving as Possible Factor
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. However, Crystal police say distracted driving appears to be a possible factor.
The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting Crystal police in reconstructing the accident scene. The Crystal Police Department urges anyone who may have information about the incident to contact them at 763-531-1014.
