Overnight Storm Drops Hail, Leaves Tree Damage in Robbinsdale
An overnight storm made its way from the west metro and into inner-ring suburbs early Monday. The storm included 1″-sized hail reported in Robbinsdale and in Plymouth. The city of Robbinsdale and other northwest suburbs also experienced tree damage.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm system developed Sunday afternoon, spawning the first severe weather in weeks.
Weather observers reported near 60 mph wind gusts near the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport early Monday morning. Southern Hennepin County and northeastern Carver and Scott counties bore the brunt of the storm. Unofficial rain totals included 5.52″ at the National Weather Service office in Chanhassen. Rainfall of 3.38″ was reported in Plymouth and 3.07″ in New Hope.
