Osseo School District Breaks Ground on New Maple Grove Elementary School
Leaders of Osseo Area Schools broke ground Tuesday for a new elementary school in Maple Grove. This one will serve the growing northwest Maple Grove population.
Board members and other local leaders were present for the event at the future property, located at the northwest corner of Arbor Ridge Parkway North and 101st Avenue.
Superintendent Kim Heil thanked voters and Osseo district staff for their help in making the new school a reality. Board Chair Tanya Prince said this is a culmination of six years of work within the school board.
“This is really the realization of our entire district’s dream, as Dr. Heil said. So, we thank the voters for the referendum. This is one key milestone in our entire ‘Building a Better Future’ work, which spans the entire district,” Prince said.
The “Building a Better Future” project is a strategic plan in many of District 279’s buildings. The district website said that over a four-year span, there will be 66 projects. Those include improvements, expansions and new builds.
Though the land is empty now, previous reports state the building will serve up to 1,100 students from prekindergarten through fifth grade. The building would be in the center of the property on Arbor Ridge Parkway North with ballfields to the south. Open fields with a natural area for outdoor learning would be situated to the north.
The school is scheduled to open on time for the 2026-2027 school year.
