Osseo Man Launches Safe Exchange Business After Getting Robbed
Self defense has always been important to Osseo resident Timi Ogundipe. After all, he is a former MMA fighter. But knowing how to protect yourself doesn’t always work in all situations.
Ogundipe explained how he was robbed a few years ago while trying to sell his phone.
“He came up, looked at my phone, he gave it back, started digging around his pocket, he came and pulled a gun and in politically correct terms said ‘give me your phone,'” recalled Ogundipe.
The robbery happened in broad daylight, leaving Ogundipe speechless.
“I drove away thinking, how can I prevent this from happening.”
With no information about the thief, Ogundipe wanted to protect others. He decided to use some of his college funds to launch Safe Resell.
Safe Resell is an online prepayment marketplace. Ogundipe said it’s a safer alternative to exchange items without the fear of being robbed of cash or of your item.
His website uses PayPal and serves as a middle man to sellers and buyers. The seller and buyer will meet at a safe and well-lit place. When and if the buyer decides to purchase the item, both individuals will exchange their four digit code to let PayPal know the purchase went through.
Ogundipe said you’ll find everything from electronics, to clothes and instruments on the website.
“Anything and everything that’s legal, including firearms. Since we’re not selling firearms per say, we’re just facilitating the sale of private sales,” he explained.
