New Luxury Apartment Building Breaks Ground in Robbinsdale
The city says the new apartment complex that broke ground Wednesday is the first of its kind for the city. Birdtown Flats will include 152 luxury apartments.
Their location has a lot to do with two major areas of Robbinsdale. It’s located between the historic downtown area and the new Hyvee development. The city says these new apartments are a direct result of Hyvee being built. The city hopes this new building will inspire other developers to invest in the city.
“There are some other areas for redevelopment on West Broadway,” says Robbinsdale Mayor Regan Murphy. “My goal is to continue the momentum. I often meet with smaller developers to look at various sites to see what kind of vision they might have whether it’s commercial or residential. I just want to do whatever we can do enhance Robbinsdale.”
Leasing information
These new apartments have been in the works since 2013. They will start pre-leasing the units in the spring of 2019 and they will be ready for residents to move in by January 1st of 2020. At first, the apartments were going to set farther back off the road with parking in front. However, the mayor says they decided to approve a different design.
“Originally they planned on having this building set back with parking in front,” added Mayor Murphy. “We wanted it to maintain the pedestrian friendly West Broadway. So, we had them change the design to have street front apartments instead of a parking lot.”
One commercial building and two residential homes will be coming down to make room for the new development. The developers have yet to say how much each apartment will lease for but did say that studio’s will lease for around one thousand dollars a month. For information on leasing click here.
