One Injured After Unlicensed Teen Drives Car into Robbinsdale Home
One person is injured after a 13-year-old driver mistook the gas pedal for a brake, crashing a car into a Robbinsdale home Monday evening.
A police report said officers arrived to the corner of 33rd and Grimes just before 6 p.m. that evening, where they found the front third of a white Chevy Tahoe buried into the house.
Two people were inside at the time. One was situated on the side of the house when the SUV crashed into the exterior walls.
The man went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other resident, a woman, was not harmed.
A GoFundMe identifies the residents as Alan and Hailey, who the page says moved into the house this past summer. They had two cats and a dog inside. According to the page, Alan was struck and has eight broken ribs and a broken collarbone from the crash.

Upon investigation at the scene, Robbinsdale police learned that a 13-year-old boy was driving the SUV with an adult passenger. After some questioning, they learned that the adult let the teenager drive it around the neighborhood.
Capt. John Elder of the Robbinsdale Police Department said the charges will be handled by Hennepin County.
“Allowing a 13-year-old to drive, I don’t think there’s a lot of questions that it’s grossly negligent. That falls under the category of criminal vehicular operation, and that’s a felony,” Elder said.
The 13-year-old will likely not be charged.
As of now, Elder said no load-bearing walls on the home were affected. The front was quickly boarded up and were crews were on site Tuesday.
