Robbinsdale Staple Hackenmueller’s Meat Market Gets New Owners
Hackenmueller’s Meat Market has been feeding Robbinsdale residents for decades. Now, a pair of new owners are steering the business into the future while keeping the past in mind.
Ande St. Michael and Dustan Posch took charge of the business on April 1.
“It feels great to take over such an established business that’s so important to Robbinsdale and the surrounding communities,” St. Michael told CCX News. “Gordy [Lindenfelser] left us with some pretty big shoes to fill.”
Lindenfelser, the former owner of Hackenmueller’s, ran the more than 100-year-old business for more than 45 years.
In 1979, he bought it from Herbert and Harold Hackenmueller.
Those long-term historical roots are significant to customers like Bill Donald, who traveled to store from out of town.
“I grew up in north Minneapolis and my grandparents and parents shopped here,” he said. “And it’s just the best meat market in the country. Always has fresh stuff, always tasty, really really good food.”
The store was up for sale for about a year before Lindenfelser came to an agreement with the new owners — and his legacy as owner looms large over their future plans.
“Everyone knows and expects a certain level of quality when they come in here, and we want to just keep that going,” St. Michael said. “Same quality, same cuts, same level of customer service … So many people come in here and tell us stories about how long they’ve been coming here.”
Posch was an employee at Hackenmueller’s before he became part owner. He’s spent about 20 years as a butcher.
“For him to move forward [the next step] was to run a butcher shop,” St. Michael said. “Him and I have known each other for a long time, since we were young teenagers. And the opportunity presented itself and I kind of pushed him to pursue it and committed to being his business partner in this venture. And we were very fortunate that Gordy was willing to work with us and make it happen.”

Ande St. Michael and Dustan Posch are the new owners of Hackenmueller’s Meat Market in Robbinsdale.
Posche plans to oversee what he knows best — meat-cutting and the back of the house.
“Just helping customers and getting people what they want, what they’re going to cook for the day,” he said.
Meanwhile, St. Michael will focus on the business administrative side of the business and deli-counter.
The pair expects to add some seasonal offerings to the meat case, but big picture, there aren’t a lot of changes planned for the meat shop.
“Just getting people exactly what they need is what sets us apart and why people come here,” St. Michael said. “We really look forward to continuing that for Robbinsdale and the surrounding communities.”
