MN POST Board Numbers Show Police Staffing Shortages
The administrative body responsible for licensing police officers, the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), says staffing numbers at local police departments can change daily.
CCX News requested the information from the state POST Board to get accurate staffing numbers on some police departments in our viewing area. The following numbers are as of Oct. 4:
- Brooklyn Center has 36 licensed full-time officers on its roster when it’s authorized for 49.
- Brooklyn Park has 98 out of 107 licensed positions filled.
- Golden Valley has 28 sworn officers out of 31 budgeted for this year.
The number of sworn officers for each city could be lower because the POST Board numbers do not take into account medical leave.

CCX Media and local chapters of the League of Women Voters will host the virtual event. Panelists include state Rep. Cedrick Frazier, Crystal Police Chief Stephanie Revering and Robbinsdale City Council member Sheila Webb.
