Maple Grove Man ID’d in Fatal Crash
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the man killed in a fatal crash on Highway 169 in Bloomington as 22-year-old Devin Gaines of Maple Grove. The crash occurred at 12:49 a.m. Friday, April 19.
According to the Minneapolis State Patrol, Gaines was driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he veered off southbound 169 north of Anderson Lakes Parkway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle hit a tree and landed in a holding pond. The Medical Examiner said Gaines died of multiple blunt force injuries and drowning.
The State Patrol said Gaines was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol did not play a role in the fatal crash, authorities said.
