Maple Grove Approves Boston Scientific Expansion Plan
The Maple Grove City Council approved plans this week by Boston Scientific to expand.
Boston Scientific is Maple Grove’s largest employer with more than 4,000 workers in the city. The company wants to build a two-story, 107,000-square-foot addition to its campus near Interstate Highway 94 and Weaver Lake Road.
The addition would bring new office and production space, as well as a new cafeteria. The project would require the demolition of a one-story segment of one of its buildings to make way for the addition. The Boston Scientific campus has three buildings that sit on nearly 68 acres of property. The addition impacts “Building 2,” which was constructed in the late 1990s.
The project is expected to bring new jobs. Boston Scientific won’t comment yet on how many. A Maple Grove official previously said the addition could lead to 40 new jobs.
Boston Scientific also has future plans for a fourth building. Those plans have not yet come before the city.
