Kragness Advances in Brooklyn Center Mayor’s Primary; Koenig in Second by 7 Votes
Teneshia Kragness and Alexander Koenig were the top two vote-getters in the Tuesday, Aug. 11, primary for Brooklyn Center mayor, according to preliminary results.
Kragness, who is currently a member of the Brooklyn Center City Council, led the pack with 52.86 percent of the vote, or 1,832 total votes, easily advancing in the race.
Koenig, meanwhile, followed in second place with 19.71 percent of the vote, or 683 total votes.
Laurie Ann Moore, who is also a member of the city council, narrowly came in third with 19.5 percent of the vote or 676 votes, just seven votes behind Koenig. It’s not yet known if a recount will be requested due to the close margin.
Latrecia J. Mayo trailed with 7.93 percent of the vote or 275 votes.
City Council Primary
Brooklyn Center voters narrowed a field of nine candidates down to four in the primary.
Gretchen Enger, Dan Jerzak, Nahid Khan and Mark Viste were the top vote-getters in the race and will advance to the general election.
Enger led with 17.72 percent of the vote, or 1,060 total votes.
Jerzak received 17.22 percent of the vote, or 1,030 total votes.
Khan received 13.62 percent of the vote, or 815 total votes.
Viste followed with 10.98 percent of the vote, or 657 total votes.
