Hennepin Technical College Student Appointed to Prestigious Board
A Hennepin Technical College student in Brooklyn Park calls it a big honor to represent his school as a member of the board of trustees for the Minnesota State system. Minnesota State comprises 37 state colleges and universities. Governor Tim Walz appointed Asani Ajogun as a student member.
“I’m so excited,” said Ajogun.
The Plymouth resident is currently a pharmacy technology student. He previously earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and studied zoology at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He is the current president of the Student Senate at Hennepin Technical College. He says he hopes to give all students a voice.
“I hope to be able to assist the board in making certain policies affecting students in Minnesota,” said Ajogun.
Minnesota State, formerly branded the MnSCU system, is governed by a 15-member board of trustees appointed by the governor. The board has policy responsibility for system planning, academic programs, fiscal management, personnel, admissions requirements, tuition and fees, and rules and regulations.
