Pedestrian Killed in Plymouth ID’d
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. Friday in Plymouth.
According to the State Patrol, a 37-year-old Benjamin Sommerfeld of Minneapolis was crossing Highway 55 outside of a crosswalk near County Road 6 when he was struck by a Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling westbound.
The driver, 56-year-old Martin Norman of Minneapolis, was not injured. Officials say Norman was not under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. Officials have not yet released the identity of the man killed.
Highway 55 was closed during the morning commute but reopened at 9 a.m. The State Patrol says this is an active investigation and will update the story when it more details emerge: https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/msp/Pages/default.aspx
