Ex-Husband Arrested in Robbinsdale Woman’s Death
Charges are expected against a 64-year-old Brooklyn Center man accused of killing his ex-wife and causing a 10-hour police standoff at his home before his arrest.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said 48-year-old Lauri Deatherage died of a gunshot wound to her head the morning of Friday, June 18. Police conducted a welfare check and found her body at her Robbinsdale home.
Robbinsdale police eventually arrested her ex-husband, but not before the lengthy standoff Friday night at the man’s home on the 6200 block of Unity Ave. N. in Brooklyn Center. The standoff involved police negotiators from several agencies, including Brooklyn Center police who were able to contact the suspect by telephone. West Metro SWAT and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office also helped with the arrest.
Deatherage had just gotten remarried June 13, the same day as her 48th birthday.
“I’ll never forget the anniversary!” she wrote on Facebook.

As of Monday afternoon, the suspect remained in police custody pending charges. CCX News generally does not identify suspects until they’ve been charged.
