Crowdfunding kicks off for new Robbinsdale Mural
The side of the Welna Ace Hardware store in Downtown Robbinsdale could soon become a new mural.
Robbinsdale’s Economic Development Authority teamed up with local muralist, Lili Payne, to come up with a design.
The next step is to raise money.
City Council Member Pat Backen launched a GoFundMe page a few weeks ago. The hope is to raise $2,300 by the end of the month.
“The city has always tried to maintain the downtown as a very small, walkable area and keep it looking as good as we can,” Backen said. “Adding a mural is just sort of part of that effort, and we just hope to kind of keep things looking fantastic and thriving in our downtown area. Right now, it’s really booming.”
Backen said that Payne would begin the mural project in the spring. It would take about six weeks to complete the mural, which would pay homage to Robbinsdale’s past and present.
