Brooklyn Park Restaurateur Expands To U.S. Bank Stadium

If you’ve ever gone to a Vikings game and had a hankering for pasta and meatballs, you’re in luck — a Brooklyn Park restaurateur is bringing his homemade Italian fare to U.S. Bank Stadium.

Jim Stone, who owns Sweet Taste of Italy in Brooklyn Park, also owns a line of food trucks called Kenny’s Meatball Wagon.

He’s opening a brick-and-mortar Kenny’s Meatball Wagon booth at U.S. Bank Stadium, serving football fans, as well as concert-goers and other special event attendees.

“We’re just going to try and push out what we can fast, you know? Meatballs and garlic bread and sandwiches,” Stone said. “We’re obviously not going to be doing double mega meals at U.S. Bank Stadium, but yeah, we’ll keep it simple for everybody.”

Their food truck is also getting a long-term home at the new Mystic Lake Amphitheater in Shakopee.

Stone says that even though they will be busy off-site, you’ll find the same Italian classics at their Brooklyn Park home.

“This restaurant, we’ve been here for 24 years, and we’ve got a really good crew, so while I’m away with my brother, dealing with the food truck and all that, we’ve got some really cool staff that can handle this while we’re away,” he said.

Fun fact: Sweet Taste of Italy has now sold 14 million loaves of garlic bread and seven million meatballs.
