Brooklyn Center Police Investigate Fatal Shooting on Unity Avenue
No arrests after victim dies in hospital
The Brooklyn Center Police Department is investigating a fatal April 23 shooting.
Officers with the Brooklyn Center Police Department were dispatched at 8:53 p.m. to investigate a report of gunshots fired in 7200 block of Unity Avenue, according to a press release.
Arriving officers found a man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police rendered first aid to the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital.
The victim later died in the hospital.
According to Brooklyn Center police Cmdr. Garret Flesland, as of this story’s publishing, no arrests have been made in the case.
The Brooklyn Center Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. The department sent several detectives to the scene of the shooting to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses.
Several first-responder agencies assisted in first aid attempts and the investigation. They include the Brooklyn Park Police Department, the Brooklyn Center Fire Department, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office and North Memorial EMTs.
