Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park Meet to Discuss Crime
City leaders from Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center met Thursday to discuss ways to reduce violent crime.
Edinburgh USA golf course hosted a regional meeting of Cities United. Launched in 2011, Cities United aims to reduce violence in the African-American community. City leaders say police can’t solve the issue by themselves.
“The police cannot arrest their way out of problems,” said Brooklyn Park Police Chief Craig Enevoldsen. “So you need your park and rec department, you need your community development, you need everyone to help address the core issues that lead to violent crime.”
Brooklyn Park officials say they’re working on ways to help promote economic inclusion. They say one way to do that is provide reliable public transportation to connect people to jobs.
