Boston Scientific Expansion Identified As Maple Grove’s ‘Project Black Bear’
Maple Grove’s largest employer, Boston Scientific, confirms that it’s the company planning a $170 million expansion in the city.
City officials had called the expansion plans by the code name “Project Black Bear.”
Boston Scientific is planning to build a new 400,000-square-foot campus in the gravel mining area just down the road from Lowe’s.
The project is expected to bring nearly 200 new jobs to the area. City documents (Agenda item 7A) say the office will consist of research and development labs.
Last month, the city approved a more than $6 million tax-increment financing agreement to help make it happen.
Boston Scientific sent CCX News this statement when asked about new campus:
Across Boston Scientific we continuously align our real estate and workspace to support our business strategy as well as our growth. As part of that ongoing process, we are planning to construct a new facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota. While our project plans have not yet been finalized with the State of Minnesota, the new construction of an additional site can enable growth by adding workspace and further collaboration opportunities for our teams.
