5-Year-Old Fatally Shot at Thanksgiving Gathering, 13-Year-Old Arrested
Brooklyn Park police responded on Thanksgiving night to a home in the 8000 block of Florida Avenue where a 5-year-old had been shot.
A press release says the arriving officers attempted to render first aid, but the child died at the scene.
According to police, a 13-year-old boy accidentally fired a gun making a social media video with several other children. Police say information leads them to believe the 13-year-old who fired the weapon accidentally shot the child.
The teen was arrested and taken to the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.
