Robbinsdale Residents May Qualify for Home Improvement Assistance
From the windows to the roof, maintaining a home is a constant and expensive job.
But before you call a contractor for that next home project, you may want to check with the City of Robbinsdale first.
Money has been set aside to help qualified homeowners repair and upgrade their houses.

Qualifying homeowners could get a help covering their home improvement bill from the City of Robbinsdale.
“The City of Robbinsdale Economic Development Authority has made some funding available,” said Community Development Director Heather Rand.
It’s called the Robbinsdale Low Income Home Improvement Grant Program.
To qualify, your household income just needs to fall under a certain threshold.
“If you are a family of four and your income is less that $130,000 you’ll probably qualify,” said Rand. “If you are an individual and your income is less than $90,000 you’ll probably qualify.”
The grants cover a wide range of projects such as windows, doors, insulation, roof, HVAC systems, air conditioners, heaters and other permanent equipment on a house.
Up to 20 percent of the cost of the home improvement project can be covered by the grant, but that number can grow.
According to Rand, sometimes the city is able to find some state dollars to leverage or county dollars so that 20 percent can be even greater.
Officials say keeping these homes in better shape is an investment for all of Robbinsdale.
“I think it’s important for our community that we provide this type of assistance that we keep up the quality of housing which is good for everybody,” said Rand.
With homeowners already taking part in program, the city encourages residents to apply before funding runs out.
