Robbinsdale Once Again Offers Flocculation Plant Tours
If it’s summer, that means the City of Robbinsdale once again is ready to show off one of its unique features: the flocculation plant on Crystal Lake. The facility helps clean and filter excess nutrients from run-off and other sources in the lake. City staff will lead the 45-minute tours every other Friday this summer at 10:00 a.m. on the following dates:
June 12th
June 26th
July 10th
July 24th
August 7th
August 21st
They will try to limit the tours to groups of ten or fewer guests, but other private tours can be arranged if needed.
Tours go on rain or shine, and guests are advised to dress accordingly.
Water Resources Speclialist Jenna Wolf will lead most of the tours, and she will talk about the unique history of Crystal Lake, which explains why it got to its current state and why the plant was needed, how it works, and how staff tests water at the plant and on the lake. She can also speak with guests and residents about what everyone can do to help keep lakes and rivers clean.
