Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe Not Seeking Re-Election
After 17 years in city government, Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe decided to not run this year for re-election. He told CCX Media’s Dave Kiser that it took a lot of reflection ahead of this summer’s election filing deadline before he came to that decision.
“There’s some professional opportunities I want to explore now a little further, using the experience I’ve gained throughout the city,” Mayor Poppe told Kiser during a recent taping of the quarterly Mayor’s Minutes segment.
There aren’t enough candidates filed for any of the open city races to require a primary, so they will all advance to the general election on Tuesday, November 3.
“You know, we have a number of good candidates running for the position, and I would just say spend some time understanding their position and the value that they’re going to bring to the city and make an informed decision when it comes time to vote,” said Poppe.
