Mayor’s Minutes: Plymouth’s Jeff Wosje
Plymouth Mayor Jeff Wosje talked recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about a host of events the city has lined up for the approaching spring.
Primavera, the city’s springtime celebration of the arts, is coming up April 10-13 at Plymouth Community Center.
“It’s a sign that spring is finally getting here!” said Wosje. “We sponsor and bring in local artists, regional artists, and also high school students. It’s a fun event, it’s kind of a rite of spring for us.”
According to a city website, the four-day event provides an opportunity for the public to view and celebrate fine art. Original juried artwork by local and regional artists, as well as artwork by Plymouth area high school students, will be featured in the art gallery and nearby classrooms at the community center.
Adult artwork will remain on display in the Plymouth Community Center Art Gallery for public viewing through May 25. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Plymouth Drop-Off Days are Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 this year.
Another highly-anticipated event each spring is the city’s Drop Off Days.
“It’s always one of our most popular events of the year,” said Wosje. “People will come out and just empty the stuff they have, they’ve accumulated and need to get rid of.”
Friday, April 25 is a day to drop off free items, and Saturday, April 26 is a day to drop off free items and those the city charges a fee to dispose. You can pre-pay online and the list of items is also found at the link above.
The mayor will also once again host Walk with the Mayor, as part of Hennepin County’s on-going Step To It wellness campaign in the month of May.
Plymouth has won (Step To It) in previous years,” said Wosje. “Not by a little, by a lot! I want to make sure we retain that! I’ve always been proud that Plymouth is a very active community. It’s a nice walk around and you can come and bend my ear all you want.”
