Mayor’s Minutes: Crystal’s Julie Deshler
Crystal Mayor Julie Deshler spoke recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about a summer full of events and opportunities to take advantage of in her city.
Crystal Cove Aquatic Center recently reopened after more than a year closed for a complete renovation of the pool and other amenities.
“It’s finally open!” said Mayor Deshler. “People are excited!”
She also touted the upcoming West Metro Fire-Rescue District Open House in New Hope and the annual Crystal Frolics.
Deshler also takes anti-litter efforts very seriously in the city. She said the city recently partnered with Sentencing to Serve to have litter pick-up efforts for about a year.
Friends of Crystal Parks also makes litter pick-up equipment available at the community center for anyone, who, like Deshler, wants to get out and pick up trash along the city’s roads.
“I’m very opposed to litter,” she said. “It just makes the city looks run-down. I get my litter picker-upper and my trash bag and I get out and get my exercise.”
