Crystal Cove Aquatic Center Prepares to Reopen
It’s been about a year since the public was allowed to cool off at the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center.
The community swimming pool was closed to fix a leak and so other renovations could happen.
But now the wait is almost over.
Swimmers and sunbathers will soon be welcomed back to the new and improved facility.
“We are very excited to be putting the finishing touches on the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center, ” said Crystal Recreation Director John Elholm.
There’s some brand new amenities that await families once renovations are complete and the pool reopens.

Younger kids can look forward to a water table and spray arch.
There’ll also be floating structures shaped like a snake and alligator that kids can climb onto.
Teens can enjoy special features like a zip line, rope swing, and jumping platform designed with them in mind.
“We use to have a one meter diving board and we now have a two meter and three meter jumping platform. So it’s a little bit higher place to jump from. We also have a climbing wall. It’s a 16 foot climbing wall,” said Elholm.
A more inviting and functional lobby space will also welcome visitors as well additional shade.
Everything is coming together to open the pool up in the second week in June, but officials say they are still looking for some help to keep everyone safe.
“One of nice things about the pool is we do hire a lot of people to run it. Whether that’s lifeguards, concession stand workers, and other positions,” said Elholm. “It’s really a place where kids in our community have their first job.”
Elholm believes Crystal Cove Aquatics Center is a great place to work, have fun, and make memories.
“The last pool lasted 50 years and so we hope this will last a real long time and really be a place that brings the community together,” he said.
Elholm said the city plans to resume swimming lessons at the pool in July.
Crystal Cove will hold its reopening celebration on Wednesday, June 25, offering a free swim from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
