Golden Valley Hosting Two Public Events for Building Projects in June
The City of Golden Valley will host two public engagement opportunities as it continues through its Building Forward program to re-shape the core of the city’s municipal buildings at the civic center campus and beyond.
The city will host a meeting on Wednesday, June 3 at the Hennepin County Library Branch at 5:00 p.m., and will also have a table at the city’s Public Safety Open House on Wednesday, June 17 at 5:00 p.m. There, residents will get to see four proposed concepts for what the civic center campus may look like with different configurations and options.
“It gives us a good sense of where buildings could go, what buildings could co-locate together, and then what the landscaping around it could look like in those scenarios,” said Deputy Community Development Director Chloe McGuire. “It’ll help us weigh some trade-offs in the future and understand how people actually use the campus.”
The city has also finalized purchases on the new east fire station site on Lilac Drive near Highway 100 and the site of the new public works facility on Olson Memorial Highway.
“We are trying to be very methodical and logical in our steps,” said McGuire. “We’ve talked about this for many years and there’s a lot of action happening this year.”
