Wayzata Volleyball Wins 55th Straight to Open Season
Two-time defending state volleyball champion Wayzata opened its 2022 season with a three-set sweep of Minnetonka Thursday, extending the team’s winning streak to 55 matches.
The Trojans fell behind 10-6 in the first set but outscored the Skippers 19-8 to close out the set and then won sets 2 and 3 by scores of 25-11 and 25-15.
Wayzata won Class AAAA last season, finishing the year with a 34-0 record.
Their next match is Monday against Rogers, a team they beat in the state tournament a year ago.
