Wayzata Volleyball Starts Practice to Pursue Another Title
The Wayzata volleyball team is aiming high again this season as tryouts and practice sessions start for teams across Minnesota.
The Trojans have won three straight big school titles (there was no state tournament in 2020 due to the pandemic).
They lost two starters from the 2022 championship team.
Wayzata has a formidable lineup that features some of the state’s top players in setter Stella Swenson and outside hitters Avery Jesewitz and Olivia Swenson, all seniors.
Junior middle hitters Katie Kelzenberg and Reilly Kurth return as well.
As strong as Wayzata should be, getting back to state is far from a given.
The Trojans will once again have to get past a very good Champlin Park team in Section 5AAAA.
Wayzata opens the season with a match at Rogers August 24th.
