Wayzata Legion Baseball Beats Champlin Park for 4th of July Title
The Wayzata Post 118 American Legion baseball team broke open a close game to beat Champlin Park 8-1 in the championship game of the Delano Stars and Stripes 4th of July tournament.
The game was scoreless through five innings.
Wayzata took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth on Josh Mathieson’s RBI single.
The Wizards then broke it open with a seven-run seventh inning, capped by Kyle Boutwell’s three-run double.
Liam Hall went the distance to earn the win on the mound for Wayzata, allowing just an unearned run in the seventh.
It’s Wayzata’s fifth overall title at the Delano tournament and first since 2018.
