Wayzata Girls, Boys Cross Country Teams Advance to State From Section 6AAA
The Wayzata boys and girls cross country teams qualified for next weekend’s state meet after strong finishes at Wednesday’s Section 6AAA championships.
The Wayzata girls, ranked first in the state in Class AAA, had six runners finish in the top nine including meet champion Maddie Gullickson and runner-up Lila Golomb.
In addition to the Trojans’ team- which also includes Alyson Kleyman, Miley Clark, Julia Link, Jazleen Malherek-Osorio and Addison Neitz- the local individual state qualifiers are Naomi Dybvig of Armstrong and Chloe Voyen from Hopkins.
In the boys’ race Edina won the team title with Wayzata second with both teams going to state.
The Trojans’ team includes section runner-up Alex Haag plus Connor Viera, Matthew Adams, Matthew Jenneke, Blake Knutson and Will Chabot.
Local individuals who also qualified for state were Carter Hering and Jack Lakin of Hopkins.
The state meet is Saturday November 2nd at the University of Minnesota’s Les Bolstad Golf Course.
