Wayzata Boys Swimming & Diving Takes Home Section 5AA Title
The Wayzata boys swimming and diving team secured another Section 5AA championship by earning 660 points on Saturday, nearly double the amount of the next closest team, Irondale. It’s the 13th consecutive section title for the Trojans.
Wayzata took first place in eight of the eleven swimming events and had two divers qualify for the Class AA state meet.
Trojans’ junior Nathan Carr took first place in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team. Carr’s time of 48.70 second on the butterfly broke his previous section 5AA record and also broke the Minnetonka Aquatics pool record.
Other Wayzata winners included Jerry Lou (200 IM), Noah Landry (50 Free), JP Kirchner (100 Free), Eli Kishish (500 Free), and the 200 Free Relay team.
Osseo’s Mason Krings placed first overall in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.09 seconds.
Maple Grove’s Pengxu Lor took first place in diving.
The state meet is Thursday through Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
