Wayzata Boys & Girls, Armstrong Boys, Hopkins Girls Qualify for State Nordic
The Wayzata girls and boys Nordic ski teams captured Section 6 titles Monday at Theodore Wirth Park to advance to the state meet.
The Armstrong boys and Hopkins girls teams each finished second to also qualify for the state meet.
The format for section races is different this season due to COVID-19 protocols.
Teams competed in pods, and racers went out in the same order in each race without using the pursuit format adopted in recent years.
Roger Anderson of Armstrong had the best overall combined time for the boys, with Colin Freed of Wayzata second.
Sydney Drevlow of Hopkins easily won the girls title.
In another change this season, the girls and boys state meets will be held on seperate days.
The girls state meet is March 11 and the boys is on March 12, both at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik.
