Wayzata Boys Basketball Rallies to Beat Shakopee in Class AAAA State Semifinals
The Wayzata boys basketball team had to rally back against Shakopee in the class AAAA state tournament semifinals to earn a 59-55 win and advance to their fifth straight state championship game.
The Trojans got down by as many as 11 points in the first half, but seven made three-pointers in the second half, along with some timely defensive stops propelled the Trojans to the four-point comeback win.
Four Trojans scored in double figures led by Christian Wiggins’ 18 points.
Isaac Olmstead hit some big threes in the final minutes of the game and ended up with 14 points. Nolen Anderson added 11 points and Wyatt McBeth chipped in 10, including the game sealing lay-in with a foul.
Wayzata will take on top seeded Cretin-Derham-Hall in the Class AAAA championship on Saturday.
