Wayzata Baseball Wins Playoff Opener
The Wayzata baseball team scored four runs in the second inning and three more in the fifth on the way to an 8-5 win over Minneapolis South in the first round of the Section 6AAAA tournament.
Jake Berkland broke a 1-1 tie with a bases-loaded double scoring three runs in the four-run second inning.
Riley Leathermann started the game on the mound for the Trojans and earned the win.
Wayzata, the top seed in Section 6AAAA, hosts fourth-seeded Armstrong- a 10-0 winner over St. Louis Park in the opening round- on Tuesday afternoon.
The tournament shifts to Parade Stadium for the next round of games Saturday.
